Miscellaneous FilingsThe County Clerk/Comptroller's office maintains the filings of numerous documents listed below.
Proof of Publication Whenever a Proof of Publication for various documents (i.e. liquor license establishment, trade name, corporation filing, etc.) is filed, the newspaper will send three (3) copies of the Proof to the individual who filed. The individual is responsible for sending one copy:
An original copy of the Proof of Publication must be filed with the Douglas County Clerk/Comptroller's office with a filing fee of $5.00. After filing, a photocopy of the proof showing the date filed will be returned to the sender to verify the filing. A power of attorney form may be filed at the Douglas County Clerk/Comptroller's office for a fee of $5.00 per page, but it is not required to be filed. This will be filed as a miscellaneous filing in the County Clerk/Comptroller's office. Please note:
Corporations Corporation papers are no longer filed with the County Clerk/Comptroller's office. Information on how to file a corporation name can be obtained from the Nebraska Secretary of State's Office at: Suite 2300 Partnership & Sole Proprietorship As of January 2003, Business & Sole Proprietorships are no longer filed with the Douglas County Clerk/Comptroller’s Office. They are filed with the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office. Please contact them at 402-471-4079 for more information.
